What Are The Different Printing Methods Available?

Have you ever wondered what type of printing methods one can choose to decorate their garments? Do you know that each method is suited to a different need, depending on for example material and size of the order? Find out more about the most commonly used types of printing techniques.

Which method fits your custom apparel needs?

We all have different requirements when it comes to custom apparel.Whether you are looking for custom t-shirts for your staff, sport club or company event, custom polos to your online store, hooded sweatshirts, fleeces or jackets for the colder days, Alter Graf has a decoration method suitable for every type of apparel and every request.

SCREEN PRINTING - save time and obtain high resistant print

This is the most effective and fastest way to transfer any image on clothing. The whole process is based on making an appropriate matrix, applying paint on it and pressing it against the surface of the material.

This method is characterized by high resistance to weather conditions, mechanical damage and heavy conditions. Additionally, the design will not wash away after repeated washing.

Screen printing is possible in any selected colours , in case of large quantities (i.e. from about 100 pieces), the price of screen printing becomes more economical.

Note: If you require tonal transition or prints above A4 size - use DTG technique

SUBLIMATION - eco-friendly solution to obtain vivid colours

Special sublimation inks are transferred on paper in combination with a suitable printer. In the second step of the process, in the presence of high temperature and pressure, the design is transferred on to the clothing. This method allows obtaining vivid printing colours, which are high resistance to UV radiation.

Sublimation is eco-friendly method, as it is based on water-based paint instead of  pigmented oil-based or solvent based paint.

DTG - make tonal transitions, minimum quantities at affordable price

It is the least time-consuming technique, because it does not use plates, matrices, screens and the like. Graphics are printed directly from the device on clothing. After heating in the press, the print becomes very durable.

In direct to garment printing (DTG) method, unlike silk-screen printing, it is possible to make tonal transitions and large graphics. Most importantly, with this method it is possible to print from as little as one piece at a low cost.

Please note: that DTG printing is used only on 100% cotton garments.

THERMOTRANSFER - a durable and flexible method of marking garments, hats, bags and other accessories

Thermal transfer printing with convection can be used on cotton, polyester or a mixture of these. A small print run is an ideal field for the use of thermal transfer. Subtitles, logos, uncomplicated graphics are ideal for this printing method. There are two types of foil used for thermal transfer, flex foil (flexible and smooth) and flock foil (less flexible and with a material texture).

Embroidery - high durability and decoration that enriches every type of garment

Embroidery is the oldest technique of decoration, it is characterized by high durability - properties do not deteriorate after repeated washing or normal use over time. Moreover, embroidery is resistant to all weather conditions, and enriches every type of garment such as t-shirts, hoodies, polo shirts or workwear.

Our clients use embroidery method mostly on garment made from a mixture of polyester with cotton or 100% polyester.

How much custom apparel costs?

The price of custom apparel is calculated individually, depending on the number of pieces, the chosen technique and, in the case of screen printing, the number of colours.
